Texas Rice Farmer Tries Out iHSD to Halt Weed Seedbank

GROW headed to Texas recently to interview Bryan Wiese, owner of Wiese Brothers Farm in Wharton, about his unique decision to try out the integrated Harrington Seed Destructor (iHSD) in rice fields.

Wiese farms organic rice and has to deal with many grass species across the season, many of which develop seeds that are often spread by the combine at harvest. But this year, in collaboration with Texas A&M, he decided to attach an iHSD to his combine to see if it can destroy weed seeds before they reach the ground. Watch this video to see the first iHSD working on rice in this region.
