NCSU researchers use drones to identify Italian ryegrass seedlings in wheat

Italian ryegrass is an herbicide-resistant weed infesting many winter wheat fields in the eastern U.S., including North Carolina.  Dr. Wesley Everman and his research program at NCSU have found a highly successful method to identify early-stage Italian ryegrass in winter wheat with drone imagery, allowing for alternative weed management options.
