Spring is Coming. Time to Stock Up on GROW’s Weed Management Planners!

The groundhog was skeptical, but spring is coming, and with it, dozens of crop and weed management decisions – burndown herbicide selection, planter row widths, variety placement, tillage passes, and maybe even tactics like cover crops.

Do you know how each one affects your operation’s most troublesome weeds?

Time to stock up on the GROW Weed Management Planners, which aim to help farmers learn exactly that!

The planner is divided into two charts, one for before planting and one for after planting. Each chart lists out all the major crop production and weed management tactics that can take place on a row cropping operation in the Midwest and Eastern U.S., along the chart’s vertical Y axis. They include:

  • Crop Rotation
  • Cover Crop Use
  • Tillage and Cultivation
  • Planting Date & Methods
  • Fertility Practices
  • Harvest Weed Seed Control
  • Chemical Use

Simply scan across the horizontal X axis to find your target weeds and learn how each tactic affects that species. Does it make the weed worse? Less problematic? Does it do nothing at all? Look for the efficacy ratings for your answer, which range from detrimental (D), to no effect (N), poor (P), fair (F), good (G) and excellent (E).

Each weed is categorized by its growing characteristics, such as perennial or annual, vining or upright, small seed or large seed. This allows the table to be used for weeds that are not specifically listed.

The charts are available for online print orders, free of cost. Use GROW’s easy online order system to order up to 100 of each.
