Farmer Forum Recap: Cover Crop Mixes for Weed Suppression

In GROW’s first Farmer Forum of 2026, a panel of farmers shared insights from their longtime and extensive use of cover crop mixes for weed suppression.

University of Delaware Extension weed specialist, Dr. Mark VanGessel moderated the panel. Paul Davis, a Virginia farmer, and Frank Rademacher, a farmer from Illinois, answered questions from GROW and the audience on a range of topics, including using cover crop mixes for weed suppression, planting green into cover crop mixes, and how cover crops perform in different seasons.
