Pesticide Label Changes Brought On by the Endangered Species Act

Herbicide labels are changing, as EPA begins instituting its new strategy to bring all registered pesticides into compliance with the Endangered Species Act.

In an effort to help farmers, crop consultants, Extension agents and other ag stakeholders, the Northeastern IPM Center hosted a webinar that dove deep into the details of what label changes will look like and how growers can stay in compliance with them. Specifically, the webinar covers:

  • Why pesticide labels are changing to account for risks to endangered species
  • What changes you can expect to see on herbicide labels
  • How farmers can implement these changed label requirements
  • What the current status of ESA-required label changes is
  • Where growers can find more resources on this topic

The webinar was presented by Dr. Kurt Vollmer, an Extension weed management specialist at the University of Maryland, and Dr. Bill Chism (WSSA), Dr. Mark VanGessel (University of Delaware) and Dr. Niranjana Krishnan (University of Maryland), joined him to take questions.
