Cover Crops for Weed Management: Get the Latest & Greatest from GROW

As cover crop use grows more common, so does research seeking to answer important questions about how this practice can help farmers suppress weeds.

That’s why the GROW team recently updated and expanded its Cover Crop Management webpage, to try to account for a wave of new research and information on this topic.

Written by a GROW team led by Outreach member and PSU emeritus weed scientist Dr. William Curran, the newly expanded page tries to answer the most pressing farmer-led questions about how cover crops can work within a farming operation to suppress weeds. How do they work with residual herbicide use, or conventional planting equipment; how do you pick the right cover crops and avoid the wrong ones? And how do the different regions of the country, with their wide variation in cropping system and precipitation, approach cover crops?

These are just a few of the questions answered by a series of accordions on the new page, which expand with a click of your mouse, so you can control how much content you see as you peruse the site.

Don’t want to be overwhelmed by text? Our content accordions let you read one section at a time as you peruse the page. (Graphic by Emily Unglesbee, GROW)
